About After the Stork...

Workshops

My workshops prepare parents for the reality of what to expect after delivery and beyond in the realm of newborn care and postpartum wellness. Parents report feeling most overwhelmed in the initial stages immediately after birth when exhaustion and uncertainties are high, as they attempt to navigate how to respond to their crying, hungry, gassy, fussy baby.

This is why I have designed simple to follow, step-by step programs, that act as a guiding light and lifeline when you need it most. Grounded in research based information and a holistic approach, my workshops are tailored to meet the unique needs of new parents, empowering them to respond to the challenges of infant care with confidence, while prioritizing their mental health and maximizing recovery.

During class sessions, parents will have the opportunity to ask their most pressing questions and receive insightful answers, while cultivating unwavering confidence in their parenting abilities through hands-on learning, to develop and refine their practical skills to provide safe care to their infant.

From understanding and decoding infant cues to mastering essential caregiving skills, like breastfeeding, diaper changing, safe sleep practices, and more, our comprehensive curriculum ensures you'll emerge from our course feeling empowered, knowledgeable, and ready to conquer the challenges ahead.

Private Consulting

I offer private 1:1 Lactation consulting and newborn care support in those crucial early days and weeks after your baby's arrival in the comfort of your own private space - be it your home, our office, or online.

I am here to offer you dedicated assistance tailored to your specific needs and experiences. Drawing upon your unique birth journey and challenges, I conduct a comprehensive assessment to pinpoint your learning requirements and care preferences. From there, you will be provided with tailored "hands-on" lactation consulting, newborn and maternal care support, and expert parenting education covering a wide array of topics including: breastfeeding, navigating feeding challenges, pumping, supplementation, swaddling, burping, bathing, safe sleep, soothing, bonding, recovery, breast and nipple care, mental health and more!

Following this personalized guidance, I will provide you with a unique "Feeding/Care Plan" designed to empower you in continuing to nurture your little one and yourselves towards your individual, infant, family, and/or parenting goals between sessions. Together we will get you to a place where you are feeling confident in your decisions, reassured in your care, and successful in your postpartum journey.

Private Counselling (RN Psychotherapy)

Whether you're anxiously anticipating your baby's arrival and feeling uncertain about what to expect, or you're currently adjusting to the challenges that can accompany newborn care, breastfeeding, and the postpartum period; I'm here to provide you with compassionate guidance and tailored support. Together, we'll ensure your little one experiences a safe and nurturing transition from womb to world while you and your partner navigate the journey into parenthood with confidence, resiliency, and ease. Over my career in the Maternal-Child and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, I noticed a pattern of high anxiety in new parents leaving the hospital with little to no guidance or follow up support. With education, informed decision making, and mindset coaching, my clients gain the clarity and self-belief to achieve their postpartum goals and nurture their newborn. With a holistic and culturally sensitive approach, I help you craft a personalized toolkit to maintain resilience during challenging moments. My therapy offers a safe space for you to be seen, heard, and gently guided with respect, professionalism, and compassion. My commitment is to walk alongside you in your unique parenting journey every step of the way.

I’ve been practicing as a Registered Nurse since 2010. With  15+ years of Postpartum Nursing experience, over 1000 hands-on breastfeeding hours, multiple training courses, and years of on-the-job learning, my background has given me the confidence to know what parents and newborns need after delivery. I can easily anticipate parents' questions and concerns, and I know how to best support them. I continue to take courses and certifications to ensure that my knowledge and information are up to date with best practice standards. Most recently, I became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and now enjoy providing specialized support to my clients and their infants with critical feeding challenges.

With a passion for teaching and helping children, I returned to school in 2014 to obtain my Bachelor of Education at the University of Toronto. I have since had the pleasure of working as a Certified Elementary School Teacher with the Peel District School Board as well. It is here that I guide and educate adolescents and collaborate with parents to achieve their learning needs. All of this has helped to advance the education I provide to my clients so that they can make informed choices for themselves and their child from infancy and beyond.

I believe that with proper education and mental health support, we can help build strong family units and healthy foundations from which children can thrive, grow, and succeed from. With this vision in mind, I began offering RN Psychotherapy to parents after completing my Master Coach Practitioner Program. My aim is to support parents in their personal growth and healing from generational or trauma-related challenges, while providing essential support to families during the delicate postpartum season as their evolving role unfolds into parenting.
